Walsall Football Club's Reserves team manager Richard O'Kelly has spoken to the club's official website following Wednesday afternoon's Final Third Development League Cup defeat to Shrewsbury Town, and has praised his side's work ethic despite falling to a late defeat.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Richard said; "We started the game brightly, a lot like last week. We deservedly went a goal up through Levi Rowley and could have added to our lead.
"As the game went on we couldn't push home our advantage and our hosts managed to get back onto level terms.
RESERVES' REPORT: SHREWSBURY TOWN 2 WALSALL 1
"The second half was evenly-matched with both sides creating chances. Shrewsbury went on to nick it late on with a goal from a free-kick.
"Not making excuses, but our lads looked tired. These things happen at this stage of the season but the important thing is how you manage the situation and the work ethic cannot be faulted."
