Young Walsall Football Club left-back Rico Henry is to undergo an MRI scan on his injured shoulder as the club seek to come to a conclusive diagnosis and settle on a treatment plan for the 17-year-old prospect.

Rico suffered the suspected dislocated shoulder during the Saddlers' mid-week Sky Bet League 1 defeat to Preston North End.

Rico was fouled by Preston midfielder, Chris Humphrey who had burst into the box to set up Daniel Johnson, who duly scored past Richard O'Donnell, the challenge led Henry to fall to the ground and he immediately grasped his shoulder.

Following the game the club confirmed that Rico had been take to a hospital local to North End's Deepdale Stadium to undergo an X-ray.

Walsall manager Dean Smith spoke to the Walsall Advertiser and offered the latest update on Rico's injury, he said; "Rico will have an MRI scan in three or four days which will give us an idea of the severity of the damage and whether there is a nerve issue. But I suspect he will be out for a few months rather than a few weeks which is disappointing because he's been playing well."
