Earlier today Walsall Football Club sadly confirmed the passing of former Saddlers' outside-left, Geoff Morris.
Born on 8th February 1949, Geoff was a talented outside-left, he arrived at Fellows Park as a 15 year-old in the summer of 1964 before turning professional in February 1966.
The West Bromwich born wide-man made his League debut for the club at the age of just 16 years and 218 days in a game against Scunthorpe United in September 1965 and in doing so became our youngest-ever player at senior level.
Going on to make 201 appearances for the club in all competitions, he was leading scorer in 1971/72 with 12 goals before moving on to join Shrewsbury Town at the turn of 1973.
Geoff went on to have a spell at Port Vale as he brought the curtain down on his professional career and later served Kidderminster Harriers and spent a season in Australia with Brisbane Lions.
We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Geoff's family and friends at this sad time.
