SMITH LOOKS AHEAD TO JPT SECOND LEG CLASH

Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the club's official website ahead of Tuesday evening's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Final (Second Leg) clash with Preston North End, and has insisted that the team are fully focussed on the task in hand.
Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the club's official website ahead of Tuesday evening's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Final (Second Leg) clash with Preston North End, and has insisted that the team are fully focussed on the task in hand.

Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Smith said; "It's going to be a huge night for the club and it's nice to see that it will be a sell-out with the majority Walsall fans.

"The game has really caught the imagination and it's going to be a big one for both clubs. The chance to play at Wembley doesn't come along all that often for players at this level; they know what's at stake for themselves and the club.

"Our preparation has gone well; we know that Preston North End are a good side, we saw how hard it will be in the first half at their place, but by the same token, we showed what we are capable of after the break.

"We will go out there determined to do a job. It will be about keeping our heads, being disciplined and doing the right things. If we perform as we know that we are capable of, we will make life difficult for them.

"We've put this club out there and showed people what we are capable of, so to play at the national stadium would be fantastic and that is what we are striving to achieve.

"We're two goals up and we're at home with a capacity crowd behind us, so it's exciting, but at the same time we know that there is still a big job to be done and we will be fully focussed on the task in hand."
