Walsall Football Club right-back Ben Purkiss has spoken to the club's official website following last weekend's 2-0 Sky Bet League 1 victory over Colchester United, and has praised his teammates for their clinical performance against the U's.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Ben said; “We were clinical. We scored at the right times and did the right things when we had to.
“As a team it was not our best performance, we know that; we had to change things early on when Jim was forced to go off, but we eventually settled down and got into it as the game went on.
“It was a case of digging in and everyone played their part in the end. Credit to the lads because they worked hard out there.
“First and foremost you have to get the basics right and hopefully now we can find that level of consistency.
“The opportunity is there for us to build on this as we go into what is a massive night for the club in our next game a week on Tuesday.”
