Walsall Football Club's top scorer Tom Bradshaw is in the running for Sky Bet League 1's player of the month for December.
Tom, who has fourteen goals so far this season, scored five of Walsall’s eight goals during the month of December after returning from a spell on the sidelines, thanks to a recurrence of a hamstring injury. Equally adept in the air and on the ground, he was coolness personified in scoring twice in the 3-0 win at MK Dons.
Tom is joined in the running by; Ben Garrett (Crewe Alexandra), Rory McArdle (Bradford City), and Andy Williams (Swindon Town). A breakdown of their nominations can be found below.
Ben Garrett (Crewe Alexandra) – goalkeeper
Another product of the Crewe academy, his shot-stopping helped guide his side through a difficult set of fixtures. Man of the match against high-flying Preston North End, his vital last-minute save at Oldham Athletic preserved a 2-1 victory.
Rory McArdle (Bradford City) – central defender
An uncompromising presence at the heart of a Bradford defence which conceded just one goal in four games. Strong in the tackle, powerful in the air, he showed a strikers touch for his goal against Scunthorpe United - an exquisite 18-yard curler.
Andy Williams (Swindon Town) - striker
The arrowhead at the point of the Swindon attack, the 28-year-old added a positive dimension to his side’s attractive passing game. He timed his runs beyond opposing defences to perfection to sweep home five goals in four games.
THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY JANUARY 9th 2015.
The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert and former Saddler, Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications, John Nagle; League Managers’ Association Director, Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager, Paul Lowery.
