Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the club's official website ahead of this afternoon's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Sheffield United, and has called upon the squad to maintain their high standards, or risk being dropped from the side.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Smith said; "There are a lot of players fighting for the shirts now and they know that they have to maintain their high standards in order to keep their place in the team.
"By the same token, there is a busy schedule of matches ahead and everyone needs to be ready to step in and do a job when required.
"We're in the midst of a good run in the League, but we know that we are going to be tested in the games ahead over the festive period, starting on Saturday at Sheffield United.
"Richard O'Kelly went to watch them in the League Cup on Tuesday evening and was really impressed with what he saw. We know that they have got plenty of talent amongst their squad and they will be in upbeat mood.
"It's a lovely stadium for us to go and play at and these are the type of fixtures that you want to be involved in.
"We'll go there with a bit of confidence too; we'll have to be at the top of our game but we are looking forward to the challenge."
