Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press as he continues his preparations for next week's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Semi-Final clash with Tranmere Rovers, and has issued a warning to his far-from free scoring players - start scoring, or you will be replaced.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said; “We are working with the players we have at the moment. We are hoping they will get some confidence and start scoring some goals. What we can’t have is an over-reliance on Tom Bradshaw like we have at the moment.
“Romaine Sawyers has four goals but he is someone we feel should score a lot more and are constantly telling him that. Jordan Cook has scored one but had his injury earlier in the season and has also been playing out wide quite a lot.
“Mathieu Manset has not hit the ground running as we hoped he would and Ashley Grimes it still yet to score.
“We are being patient with them for now but come the turn of the year, when the transfer window re-opens, that is where we shall address it if things have not changed.
“The statistics are telling us we are creating a lot of chances."
