Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press as he continues to prepare for this weekend's Sky Bet League One clash with Coventry City, and has offered an update on the injury statuses of top-scorer Tom Bradshaw, and last season's 'Player of the Season' Sam Mantom.
Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Smith said; “I will have a look at Tom today, he did some running work with Jon Whitney on Tuesday and we need to assess where he is.
“He’s a big player for us so we want him back but it’s an injury we have to nurse and not rush him back.
“We don’t want to risk losing him for a month or two with such a busy part of the season coming up over Christmas.
“I’ve been to the Ricoh as well recently and the pitch there is a bit rough so that is another factor we have to bear in mind with the injury.
“As for Sam, he’s had an appointment this week with a specialist so we’re waiting on news from that.”
