INJURY UPDATE: TOM BRADSHAW

Walsall Football Club top scorer Tom Bradshaw was substituted for Mathieu Manset at half-time during the Saddlers' 1-0 Johnstone's Paint Trophy Area Quarter Final victory over Sheffield United on Wednesday evening.

22-year-old Bradshaw, who has notched nine goals since arriving from near rivals Shrewsbury Town over the summer, is understood to have had a tight hamstring during the latter stages of the first-half and is now a doubt for this weekend's Sky Bet League One clash with Peterborough United.

Saddlers manager Dean Smith has offered an update on Tom's status, telling the Express & Star; “Tom is a doubt. He has had a scan and we are waiting for the results on that. I don’t want to push him until we have the results. It’s the same hamstring but a different muscle. It’s not in the same spot.

“Possibly it is something we have to manage through the season as it has happened a couple of times now. We have the best possible person on it in Jon Whitney. We will find out today how severe it is.

“We are hoping there is not an awful lot wrong with it and he can be in contention of not for tomorrow then certainly for Tuesday. It’s frustrating for everyone but it is part and parcel of football life and we have to get on with it.”
