SADDLERS' RED CARD APPEAL SUCCESSFUL

The Football Association have this afternoon rescinded the red card that Walsall Football Club captain Adam Chambers picked up during the Saddlers' FA Cup First Round Replay defeat to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday evening.

Chambers, who along with twin brother James, turned 34 today, was dismissed with eight minutes of the game remaining for lunging at the Shrews' Nat Knight-Percival.

After the game Walsall boss Dean Smith told the press he would immediately appeal the decision, telling the Express & Star; “It’s never been a sending off. I have seen it again. At the time I never thought it was a sending off and I'm even more convinced now.

“We will appeal it. Unfortunately I think the referee has made a decision to the reaction rather than the actual tackle. It looked to me like he couldn't see the tackle.”

Adam was set to miss this weekend's Sky Bet League One trip to Fleetwood Town, along with the trips to Coventry City and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Semi-Final clash with Tranmere Rovers.
