Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League One clash with Oldham Athletic, and has offered a brief update on the status of last season's Player of the Season Sam Mantom, who has missed the whole of the current season through a knee injury which he picked up at the beginning of pre-season.

22-year-old, Stourbridge born Mantom, has missed the whole of the current season through a knee injury which he picked up at the beginning of the Saddlers pre-season campaign.
Speaking to the
Express & Star, Dean said; “It is one of those things and I am led by Jon Whitney. He does not believe he is too far off now. I know I have said that a few times already.”
