So keen was Bernard to pass on his knowledge and experience to future generations, he also established and operated his own goalkeeping academy.
Family, friends, colleagues and former pupils turned out for the popular coach's funeral at Sutton Coldfield Crematorium earlier today.
Bernard is survived by his wife Jane, his three children - Gemma, William and George - and stepson Jordan.
We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Bernard's family and friends at this sad time.
