Walsall manager Dean Smith has today spoken to the club's official website ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League One clash with Colchester United.
Speaking to saddlers.co.uk, Smith said; "I let off a bit of steam during half-time of the Scunthorpe game because that’s as poor as we've been for the last few years under my management.
"We had a debrief on Monday and talked about it more rationally. The players spoke about how they could have done better and we let them know our performance wasn't acceptable.
"But we move on and look forward to correcting it when we welcome Colchester United on Saturday.
"I was a bit shocked and disappointed to hear that Joe Dunne and Mark Kinsella had lost their jobs, to be honest. I know they had to cut the budget and they've had to bring some young players through, so it did surprise me.
"It’s going to be a difficult game but for us every game is as important as the next. Our performances over the past 18 months mean that the expectancy will be higher. Our fans will be expecting us to go out and win but every game in this League is tough, whether it’s Colchester United or Peterborough United who are top of the table at the moment."
