Walsall Football Club attacking midfielder Romaine Sawyers has capped of a successful fortnight by taking his place on the Football League 'Team of the Week'.

Romaine, who earlier this week returned from a successful spell of international duty with St Kitts and Nevis, netted in the Saddlers' 3-1 surprise victory over previously unbeaten Preston North End.

Here is the full line up;

Goalkeeper: Mark Tyler (Luton Town)

The experienced Tyler was on top form for Luton on Saturday, keeping high-flying Cheltenham Town at bay to earn the Hatters a valuable three points - their first Football League victory at Kenilworth Road since March 2009.

Defender: Ryan Jackson (Newport County)

The buccaneering right-back caused Northampton problems all afternoon at Rodney Parade and he had a big say in the opening goal of the Exiles' 3-2 victory.

Defender: Peter Clarke (Blackpool)

The Tangerines earned their first point of the season thanks to a goalless draw against Wolves and that hauled them off the bottom of the table. Defender Clarke had a big say in the draw, marshaling Blackpool's backline to a precious clean sheet.

Defender: Jake Bidwell (Brentford)

Bidwell may have been part of a Brentford defence that conceded twice on Saturday but his attacking play down the left helped create two goals, and earn the Bees three points in a 3-2 triumph.

Midfielder: Ryan Donaldson (Cambridge United)

The 23-year-old midfield man impressed for the U's at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, when they won 3-2. Donaldson equalised for Cambridge with a fine free-kick before setting up Ryan Bird later in the game.

Midfielder: Grant Leadbitter (Middlesbrough)

A Leadbitter brace guided Boro to three points at Huddersfield Town on Saturday. The 28-year-old's sublime, Roberto Carlos-esque free-kick opened the scoring, before he netted the winner from the penalty spot in second-half injury time.

Midfielder: Ben Marshall (Blackburn Rovers)

The former Leicester City man scored twice for Rovers in their 3-1 win against Wigan, doubling his total goals tally for the club.

Midfielder: Romaine Sawyers (Walsall)

Walsall claimed their first win of the season with a 3-1 home victory against Preston North End and Sawyers was a shining light throughout, after opening the scoring in the seventh minute.

Striker: Eoin Doyle (Chesterfield)

The Irishman put a missed penalty behind him to net a second-half hat-trick for the Spireites against Scunthorpe United.

Striker: Glenn Murray (Reading)

Two debut goals for the on-loan Murray helped the Royals on their way to a comfortable three points against struggling Fulham.

Striker: Jonathan Obika (Swindon Town)

The deadline-day signing bagged twice on his debut to earn the Robins an impressive 2-1 success at Bradford City, despite being 1-0 down after just 10 minutes.

Manager: Tony Humes (Colchester United)

Tony Humes' first game in charge, at Leyton Orient, looked to be destined to end in defeat when Magnus Okuonghae was dismissed just before half-time but his side dug in after the break to secure an impressive 2-0 success - the U's first win of the season.
