Walsall manager Dean Smith has today spoken to the press ahead of this afternoon's Sky Bet League One clash with high-flyers Preston North End, and has hailed the loan return of former club captain and two-time Player of the Season, Andy Butler as a real 'shot in the arm'.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said: “It just gives us a shot in the arm. Andy knows us well and he brings with him an experience, a charisma and a lot more besides.
“Him coming in for a month takes a lot of the pressure off and means we don’t have to risk rushing back the likes of James Chambers. It gives us a bit more protection.
“I know he is pleased to be back and we are pleased to have him back, even though it is only for a month at the moment.
“It is a short term loan and while it could be extended at any time in a month he could be called back.
“We were all disappointed to see him leave over the summer though we understood the decision.”
