PAPER TALK: FORDE DRIVEN TO HEAR THE CALL

Walsall Football Club summer signing Anthony Forde has today spoken of his hope that his continued solid club performances will help him earn a call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad.
Walsall Football Club summer signing Anthony Forde has today spoken of his hope that his continued solid club performances will help him earn a call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad.

20-year-old Forde, who joined the Saddlers from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August, has made thirteen appearances for the Republic's Under 19's and eleven for the Under 21's but is yet to make a full appearance.

Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Anthony said: “I’m just going to try to play as well as I can for Walsall every week and hopefully I will get seen and get a call-up.

“You have to play games to be seen and I had to play games to progress as a player for the sake of my own career.

“And that wasn’t happening when I was at Wolves so it was my decision to leave and I think it was a great decision to move here.”
