O'CONNOR: "OUR FORTUNES WILL TURN"

Walsall Football Club summer signing James O'Connor has spoken to the club's official website ahead of tomorrow's clash with fellow early strugglers Colchester United.

Speaking to saddlers.co.uk, James discussed his, and the squad's, disappointment at last weeks defeat to Scunthorpe United, revealed that manager Dean Smith had a few choice words for the team following the poor display, he said; “There was a feeling of frustration after Saturday. We all want to do well and I think the performance at Scunthorpe wasn't acceptable by anyone at the club, players and staff alike.

“The Gaffer had a few home truths to say both at half-time and on Monday, but we knew ourselves we missed an opportunity to get a result.

“But we’re looking to put it right against Colchester. Its all about how to react to it, we move on now and all of our focus is on the next game."

With both sides looking to get their first league win of the season under their belt James spoke of his belief in the squad, and insisted the team are keen to do all they can to puck up three points this weekend, he said; “I think there are many sides who aren't happy with the start to their season and I think Colchester along with ourselves fall into that category We go into that game knowing that if we can prepare right and perform right we can get the results we are capable of and our fortunes will turn.

“If you look at the performances over the first five games, Scunthorpe aside, we should have more points on the board.

“That hasn't happened so it’s up to us to go and work even harder to make sure that we get that first win under our belt.”
