Walsall Football Club vice-captain Paul Downing has spoken to the press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League One clash with Doncaster Rovers, and admitted that the team needs to be picking up more points at home.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Paul said; "I think we have two home games now and neither are easy. But we had a good win against Preston last time out at home and that is where we need to pick the points up.

“Saturday’s draw at Gillingham will be a good point gained if we can go on and take the points at home.

“We have probably picked up too many draws but if we can get those couple of wins you can bounce up the league. It is still very congested.

“I think we should have more points for the players we have in the squad but we haven’t and we can’t dwell on that.

“We have just got to find that consistency in our performance, like we did at Gillingham, and work hard together. There are still points to be had but we want to climb that table as quickly as possible.”
