The Walsall Football Supporters' Trust have released details of a very special upcoming event, which will be held at the Saddlers Club.
Trust Secretary Steve Davies said via Facebook; "I am pleased to announce that the Walsall Supporters Trust and Saddlers Club are delighted to announce that they are holding an Evening with England's World Cup Winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks on Wednesday 8th October."
The 77-year old former England International, and 1966 World Cup Winning goalkeeper has offered his services completely free of charge to help raise much needed funds for the Alzheimer's Society, which was very close to the heart of his close friend, former Walsall FC and fellow England International Goalkeeper Bert ‘the cat’ Williams MBE.
Gordon has also kindly agreed to donate some of the money raised to purchase new kits for Walsall Ladies, who will display the Alzheimer’s Society logo on their shirts for the coming season, with all remaining profits going directly to the society itself.
During the evening, which will be compèred by BBC Midlands Today presenter Ian Winter, an auction will also be held to raise further funds.
Gordon has kindly donated a signed print of his 1970 save against Pele, along with a signed print of the late, great Bert Williams.
A raffle will also be held, for which Walsall Football Club have also kindly donated a prize.
Steve Davies added; "This is a wonderful chance to listen to one of our World Cup Hero's. Tickets will be on sale soon and can be reserved by contacting me direct. This will sell out, so don't delay."
The event is set to begin at 7:00pm and tickets will cost just £20.00 which will include a meal of fish, chips and mushy peas.
