Wednesday evening's draw for Round Two of the Capital One Cup has thrown up a potential reunion, as The Saddlers will take on Barclays Premier League side Crystal Palace, the current home of ex-Saddler, Scott Dann.

Liverpool-born Dann began his Walsall career in 2003 after impressing during a trial spell. He went on to sign professional terms in the summer of 2004.

Scott moved swiftly up the ranks at the Bescot Stadium to become a regular in the reserve side throughout the 2004/05 season.

Following loan spells with Danish side Køge BK, and local Conference sides Redditch United and Hednesford Town he went on to earn his place in the starting line-up during 2006/07 with a number of excellent performances in defence. Sadly his season was cut-short after picking up a metatarsal injury in the game versus Milton Keynes Dons in March.

As a reward for his outstanding season, in which the Saddlers were promoted as League Two Champions, Scott was offered, and subsequently signed, a new three-year contract at Bescot Stadium, and seemed set for a bright future at the club.

However just a few months later Scott, along with fellow defender Danny Fox, who had departed just 72 hours earlier, left the club for Coventry City, a transfer which angered many fans due to several factors, including the lack of time to source a suitable replacement, the deal having taken place on the last day of the 2008 January Transfer Window, and the seemingly low fee accepted by the club, believed to be in the region of £1.000,000.

Following his departure, Scott had successful spells with the aforementioned Coventry City, which included making his England Under-21 debut versus Poland at Wolverhampton Wanderers' Molineux. Along with Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and finally, Crystal Palace, who he joined in January this year, and helped secure their Premier League status for another season, with the Eagles ending the campaign in 11th place.

Scott made a total of sixty-nine Saddlers appearances and waded in with eight goals during his time with the club.

Walsall versus Crystal Palace is set to take place during the week commencing 25th August, with ticketing details released at a later date.
