Walsall Football Club manager Dean Smith has today spoken to the press ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League One trip to Leyton Orient. Amongst the raft of topics covered, Smith discussed the current injury crisis at the club.

Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Smith said; "Unfortunately we have six or seven on the treatment table at the moment which is very unusual for us. They are good players and experienced players at that.

"It is a hectic period and when we have seven sitting on the treatment table it is very hard playing four games in 14 days.

"James Chambers is only a grade one hamstring tear so we are hoping it's just a week out for him and Jimmy O'Connor is ok now

"Ben Purkiss as well should be back training in a couple of days and Jordan Cook in a week or two.

"Sam Mantom keeps getting knock-backs. He is back training and he is kicking the ball. Hopefully he will be back as soon as possible.

"It is a big chunk of our players to take out and when they come in I think we can only get better."
