Walsall Football Club first-team manager Dean Smith has today spoken of his delight at finally agreeing terms with French striker Mathieu Manset.
Late last-night, following the club's 3-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Crystal Palace, Walsall revealed the capture of 25 year-old Manset, ending a two month chase for his signature.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Smith said: "I am delighted that we have managed to agree a deal with Mathieu. We've been trying to sort something out since he came here on trial during the summer.
"We've kept in touch with him and his representatives and have managed to thrash a deal out. I must thank the Chairman for the support that he has given me to enable me to complete this deal and add Mathieu to the squad.
"He brings something that we need and gives us a competitive edge. He's strong, aggressive, scores goals and can bring others into play. He will be a real handful for any team in our League.
"I see him as a number nine and he will fit in to the way that we play here. He gives us a good option and I am pleased that we have finally been able to secure his services."
