According to media reports, Walsall Football Club will not be offering a contract to Spanish striker Javier Lopez Iglesias, who has today been released from his trial with the club.
Iglesias, who is also known as Camochu, appeared in the Saddlers' first three pre-season fixtures against Wigan Athletic, Taunton Town and Torquay United and was understood to have impressed Dean Smith during his trial period.
Last week Smith told the Express & Star; "Javier played at Wigan and impressed, so we invited him down here for the week. His job is to keep on impressing us.
"He wants to earn a contract here and he has not done himself any harm, at the moment.
“He has impressed me enough for us to invite him and his use of the English language has got better. He has been integrated into the group.”
Despite Smith's earlier words, it is now understood that Camochu has left the club's Essington Training Ground without a contract.
25-year-old, Boal-born Camochu has played for several clubs including Sporting B, Cadual, Celta Vigo B and Rio Aviles, he has made a total of 98 career appearances and notched around 25 goals.
