Walsall Football Club goalkeeper Liam Roberts, who returned to the club earlier this week, penning a one-year deal, has been allowed to leave on loan until January, in order to gain some much-needed first-team football.

Roberts has joined Northern Premier Division side Rushall Olympic, who are managed by former West Bromwich Albion midfielder Richard Sneekes.

Liam spoke to saddlers.co.uk about the move, he said; "It's all about getting game time. I am looking forward to the challenge of establishing myself in the team and playing regularly in what is a tough, competitive League.

"This move is going to really help in my overall development and I know that the Gaffer will be keeping close tabs on me, so it's my chance to show him what I am capable of in match situations.

"Rushall have a new manager at the helm, and have brought in a number of new players over the summer, so it's an exciting time for them and hopefully I can play my part in a successful first half of the season.

"I would like to think that this move will be beneficial for all involved."
