This evening, Walsall Football Club are being linked with a move for recently released Bury striker Ashley Grimes.

Several social media accounts are linking 27-year-old Manchester-born Grimes with a move to Banks's Stadium following his release late yesterday afternoon.

Ashley began his career with youth spells at Manchester United, Bolton Wanderers and Manchester City, the latter of whom he went on to pen pro-terms with in 2006.

Ashley left City for Millwall in 2008 and remained at the New Den for three seasons before joining Rochdale in the summer of 2011, making over seventy first-team appearances during a two-year spell.

At the end of the 2012/13 season, Ashley was released by Rochdale and went on to sign for Bury in June 2013, on a two-year deal.

He struggled to make first team appearances for Bury, having been overshadowed by rival players and went on to make just 18 appearance in all competitions.

On 24th July he left the club by mutual consent, after reportedly falling out with manager Ronnie Jepson.
