Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon has today spoken of his disappointment at losing striker Tom Bradshaw to Walsall as he continues to rebuild the squad following their relegation to Sky Bet League Two...

Speaking to shrewsburytown.com Micky said: "To be fair the lad made it obvious to us very early on that he saw his future elsewhere.

"I never had chance to speak to him face to face, but certainly he never indicated that he wanted to stay. It was one that wasn't really in my hands as he had made his mind up and felt that Walsall was a better challenge for him and that's where he saw his future.

"We only want people who are really on side with the project and who want to help the club bounce back. He indicated that he didn't want to be part of that, wanted to leave and wanted to go and pursue a different challenge elsewhere.

"We're sorry that he never felt he could get that challenge under the new environment that we're bringing into the football club because we want to try and keep our best young players. It's important that the fans see we are producing our own players.

"But when someones so determined and seems to have 100 per cent made his mind up that he wants to go there isn't a great deal you can do especially when they're out of contract."
