Former Walsall winger Febian Brandy has this afternoon left Sheffield United after both sides agreed to a mutual cancellation of his contract, which had another year remaining...

In a brief statement, released via SUFC.co.uk, Sheffield United confirmed: "Sheffield United can today confirm that Febian Brandy has been released from his contract with the Club.

“The striker made 15 appearances after signing as a free agent last summer. He spent the second half of the season on loan at Walsall.

“United would like to thank Febian for his contribution whilst at the Club.”

Over the past few days and weeks speculation has been growing as to the talented wingers future with the Blades following a spell on loan at Walsall and manager Nigel Clough's apparent dislike for his style of play.
Yesterday a report in the Sheffield Star suggested that Walsall had entered the race to sign Feb for a second time, stating, "Dean Smith’s side are among a number of teams to express an interest in the Sheffield United winger after Nigel Clough, the South Yorkshire club’s manager, revealed he will consider offers for the player.

"Brandy joined United from Walsall 12 months ago after rejecting the opportunity to sign a new contract with their League One rivals.

"However, after collecting his second red card of the campaign soon after Clough took charge in October, the 25-year-old subsequently returned to the Midlands where he made 20 appearances towards the end of last season."

The only major stumbling block for the Saddlers had been Febian's contract, which was due to run until the summer of 2015. With this no longer an issue Dean Smith has a green light to get his man.
