Walsall Football Club manager Dean Smith has today insisted that he still has faith in the plan which he and the other backroom staff installed upon is appointment as manager, and has total belief in the strength of the squad, despite the recent departures.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said: “I have more faith in the plan than ever. I just look at what we have got left at the club. I think we are in a strong position, I really do. I think I have made decisions which are good for myself and the club.
He continued; “The only one which has gone against us is Andy, we would have liked him to stop but he hasn't and that is the choice he has made and we will deal with that.”
Smith also spoke about managing the expectations of any new players who are added to the squad, he said: “It’s really important we are very transparent when people come in and we tell them what we are about and what they can expect from us.
"You have got to work hard, you have got to be honest and willing to go that step forward. We want to be successful but you need players to want to be successful too.”
