The Walsall Football Supporters' Trust and local side AFC Cambridge Swifts have organised a charity football match between the Swifts and a Walsall Legends XI, in aid of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

The match, which takes place on Sunday 27th April at the Pleck Railway Club, Wednesbury Road, will be played in the memory of former West Midlands Police officer Julie Skidmore who lost her six-year battle with ovarian cancer earlier this year.

Julie was the first female officer at Saddlers games and was famously captured on camera kicking the ball back into play at the old Fellows Park ground.

She continued to hold the football club close to her heart as a fan and even worked in the Bescot Stadium control room after her retirement from the force.

Tickets for the match cost just £3 for Adults and £1 for children. The bar will be open from 12 noon. The match will kick off at 12:00pm.

There will also be a raffle with lots of great prizes up for grabs.

Already confirmed for the Legends XI team are Ian Roper, Tony Millard, Mark Taylor, Brian Palgrave, Andy Reece and boxing brothers Martin and Steve Gethin and record appearance holder Jimmy Walker.
