Following Wednesday evening's Sky Bet League One clash between Walsall and hosts Coventry City, guest Cory Lees shared his Match Report;
With Sam Mantom missing through suspension, the Saddlers' first half was one to forget, although they did have the best chances in the first ten minutes when 'keeper Joe Murphy made a stunning save from Brandy that looked like it had deflected off Westcarr on it's way to the on-loan Sheffield United man.
Then, as we reached the 22nd minute mark, a clear push on winger Brandy, which went unpunished by referee Richard Clark, gave Coventry the chance to break, and a route one ball that seemed to evade both Butler and Downing, gave Callum Wilson the chance to run on to goal and slot it past the on-rushing Richard O'Donnell.
The goal still didn't manage to stir a dormant Walsall side that was missing their quick passing style that has seen us please fans most of the season and only a great reaction save from O'Donnell stopped Butler slicing a ball into his own net and the half ended 1-0.
H/T: Coventry City 1 Walsall 0
The second half saw a completely different Walsall side come out and from the whistle they had Coventry on the back foot.
On the 53rd minute Malvind Benning's shot was parried by Joe Murphy straight to Febian Brandy who gave Murphy another shot to deal with which again he kept out, however Benning was still in the box to blast home a deserved equaliser.
Walsall had enough about them now to score more goals but they never came, and the game slowly fell back to the pattern of the first half with Coventry seeing more of the ball, and after Blair Adams hit the crossbar from 30 yards, it seemed only a matter of time before they had a more clear cut chance, and on 84 minutes, loaned-in Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso smacked one in off the underside of crossbar to wrap up the points for the Sky Blues.
