Walsall manager Dean Smith has this evening spoken of his disappointment at the team's overall performance versus Milton Keynes Dons, and shared his thoughts on club captain Andy Butler's red card.
Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk Smith said; "We were very poor in the first half. The weather was bad, but we're not using that as an excuse; we were second best and deserved to be behind at the break.
"It was a harsh sending off. Yes, it was a penalty, but their lad was going away from goal and I don't feel that it warranted a red card.
"I thought that we played well in the second half. We had some good spells, but we had given ourselves a mountain to climb. You can't start like we did in the first half against anyone in this League.
"All in all it was a disappointing day. We've not had many performances like that, but when they do come around they are hard to take.
"It's a case of drawing a line under it and moving on to the next game."
