Walsall's trip to Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium to face tenants Coventry City has been rescheduled for Wednesday, 5th March, with kick-off set for 7.45pm.
This now means The Saddlers will play eight fixtures in March in cluding Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on the 8th, Crewe Alexandra at home on the 11th along with other fixtures versus, Rotherham United, Leyton Orient Bradford City and Shrewsbury Town.
In a statement issued via Saddlers.co.uk the club expressed it's disappointment in the scheduling of the fixture as it adds further strain on an already tight schedule.
Walsall Football Club statement; "As a club we did not agree to this date due to its close proximity to two other local derbies – Wolverhampton Wanderers (8th March) and Crewe Alexandra (11th March). – meaning three fixtures in six days.
"We suggested alternative dates in February, where we currently have just four fixtures as opposed to March where we now have eight fixtures.
"When the two clubs cannot agree, The Football League Executive adjudicate. On this occasion, they have ruled in favour of Coventry’s suggested date, more than a month after the original tie was due to take place, much to our disappointment."
Tickets purchased for the original tie will be valid for the rearranged fixture. Any supporter wishing to claim a refund for the new date must do so before 12 noon on Tuesday, 4th March.
