O'KELLY PENS CONTRACT EXTENSION

Walsall First-Team Coach Richard O'Kelly has signed a new contract with the club, which will keep him at the Banks's Stadium until the summer of 2016.
Walsall First-Team Coach Richard O'Kelly has signed a new contract with the club, which will keep him at the Banks's Stadium until the summer of 2016.

56-year-old O'Kelly originally arrived at The Banks's Stadium in November 2011 as an adviser to manager Dean Smith, however Richard then left the club to take up the vacant manager's position at Hereford United in March 2012.

Following The Bull's ultimately unsuccessful battle against relegation to the Blue Square Bet Premier League O'Kelly returned to The Saddlers in June 2012 as first-team coach.

However following the appointment of Sean O'Driscoll as manager at Bristol City, O'Kelly departed once again to take up the role of first-team coach at the club.

O'Kelly, a long time friend of O'Driscoll, joined up with him for a third time, having previously worked together at both AFC Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers.

This was to be a short-lived reunion as O'Kelly resigned has position in May 2013 due to family issues, leading him to sign a contract with Walsall just a week later.

Richard will remain with The Saddlers until 2016, the same as manager Dean Smith, both are seen as an intergral part of the clubs recent progress, as they continue to mould the club into the shape they desire.
