Following Saturday afternoon's pre-season encounter with Kidderminster Harriers, guest reporter Craig Zece gives us his brief review of proceedings;
First half we started the brightest with some great passing moves which lead to Mantom and Sawyers shooting within the first 4 minutes.
Kidderminster replied within the first 10 minutes from a couple of corners and a free kick but to no avail.
James Chambers, Baxendale, Mantom and Westcarr stood out the most in the first 30 minutes.
Kidderminster scored first from a nice move with scoring a far side header in the 33rd minute.
Walsall replied straight away with a nice passing move which lead to Westcarr finding space and slotting home.
Walsall's second goal came from a lofted pass from Mantom to Sawyers who very confidently smashed it in with 41 gone.
Walsall then got a penalty when Josh Gowling was brought down I the area to which Westcarr stepped up and had his shot saved by the keeper.
H/T: Kidderminster Harriers 1 (Malbon 33') Walsall 2 (Westcarr 35', Sawyers 41')
Walsall made several changes at half time, with Taylor, Baxendale, Sawyers and Westcarr departing for Benning, McQuilken, Morgan and Ball.
Second half started the same as the first with Walsall dominant in the first five. Benning and Hemmings linking up well to supply Taylor Morgan the trialist into a couple of shots.
By the 70th minute Walsall had a new team on the pitch and as throughout the match, they had the most possession.
The opinion of most was that we need to sort our keeper out pretty soon as he didn't look too comfortable collecting balls.
Kieron Morris had a good powerful shot saved by the keeper in the 75th minute.
The game pretty much died out in the final minutes with no real opportunities from either side, all in all what we gathered from that is that we are crying out for a striker.
