DEAN SMITH CONFIRMS "NO GROUNDSHARE"

Walsall manager Dean Smith has today taken to the air waves to confirm the club will NOT be groundsharing with troubled Coventry City.
Walsall manager Dean Smith has today taken to the air waves to all but confirm the club will NOT be ground-sharing with troubled Coventry City, who have been in administration since March of this year.

Speaking to BBC WM, Smith said, "I’m led to believe there will be no ground share between ourselves and Coventry. I, for one, am pleased. I just don’t see it working. Coventry are in administration and are in the same league as us, I think it would have looked a bit silly."

He continued, “The weather has caused us a lot of trouble this year and I don’t think playing two games a week will be good for the pitch. Plus I don’t really want to share my office with anyone else either!"

Coventry’s hedge fund owners Sisu, and their parent company Otium plan to leave the Ricoh Arena following a bitter rent dispute with stadium owners Arena Coventry Limited.

Following months of speculation, Otium were named as the preferred bidder for the club by administrator Paul Appleton.

It is believed, Walsall were one of atleast three clubs the Sky Blues had opened discussions with, with The Saddlers being the first to rule it out.
