SEVERAL CHARGED FOLLOWING DERBY DAY VIOLENCE

Twenty-eight people have been charged over violence before a League One match between Shrewsbury Town and Walsall.
A total of twenty-eight people have now been charged over violence before Shrewsbury Town and Walsall's npower League One clash in October 2012.

One Police officer suffered a broken leg while tackling disorder in Smithfield Road and Mardol in Shrewsbury town centre. A total of three Police officers were injured during pre-match scuffles.

The majority of the 28 men and youths who have been charged are accused of violent disorder, others face allegations of obstructing Police and assault.

They were charged after answering bail last week and will appear before magistrates in Shrewsbury on several dates starting on 29 April, another man is also expected to be charged at a later date, police have confirmed.
