SADDLERS LIFT MIDLAND YOUTH CUP

Walsall's Youth team defeated Notts County youth 4-2 after extra time to lift the Midland Youth Cup.

Notts County started off the stronger, however it was Walsall who took the lead through Jake Heath after five minutes, County levelled through with a well placed finish from highly rated striker Malachi Lavelle-Moore on the twenty minute mark.

The game remained level and well contested through to half time.

As the floodlights beamed down it was Walsall who started the second half the stronger, midfielder Reece Flanagan put them ahead after 62 minutes with a seemingly deflected free kick. Late on Walsall striker Daniel Griffiths was felled in the box, he took the subsequent penalty which was saved well by County 'keeper Harry Andrews.

With the Saddlers seemingly heading to victory Malachi Lavelle-Moore once again levelled the tie, making it 2-2 after 87 minutes. County defender Kameron Campbell saw red in injury time for a second bookable offence.

The game finished level, sending it to extra time, The Saddlers, took the lead once again, this time through Jacob Hobbis, Joe Sinton and Amadou Bakayoko had combined to create his opening. With just seconds remaining Saddlers midfielder Reece Flanagan, who has recently signed pro terms, was once again on hand to slot home with a wonderfully placed free kick for the Saddlers.
