Walsall manager Dean Smith has today insisted 20-goal striker Will Grigg is keen to remain at the club despite contract negotiations taking far longer than expected.
Speaking to the Express and Star Smith said; "He said he’d like to stay but everything has to be right. It’s in the hands of the chief executive and Will’s representatives. I have said to Will what I want to say and I want him to sign. Will has intimated to me he wants to sign so if they can get it sorted out then hopefully it will be done.”
The club began negotiations with the Solihull born striker in late February and were confident of completing a deal within a very short time, however it is understood club Chief-Executive Stefan Gamble and Grigg's agent Dan Wood are still going over the fine details of the deal.
