Security in Walsall town centre and around the Banks's Stadium is is being stepped up for the visit of Shrewsbury Town tomorrow, in an attempt to avoid a repeat of violent clashes between fans seen before and after the away tie last October.
As well as an increase in officers, plain clothed spotters will also be used to point out any potential flash points or trouble makers. It comes after disorder broke out ahead of the game between the two clubs at the Greenhous Meadow last autumn.
Fifteen people across Shropshire and the West Midlands were arrested on the day of the football-related disorder, a further 14 were arrested during December and January, 12 of them from the Shrewsbury area and two from the West Midlands.
