Saturday’s game against Doncaster is once again a big game for us on paper as we continue to take things one game at a time. Doncaster are currently riding high, in the second position of league one, whilst we continue to try and add to our goo run of recent times, of which a win could see us go to 8 wins from 10.

Some big news stories have cam through this week for us, the retirement of Jimmy Walker and the new contract of Paul Downing amongst them, but we will be focused only on what would be an amazing three points for us at the Keepmoat. A win could see us go within 1 point of the playoffs if results anywhere go our way, but a defeat could see us slip back down to into the bottom half, but surely even if this did happen we don’t have to be looking down worried about that relegation trap door with the magic 50 point mark not too far away.

Doncaster themselves have had a good season so far, that much is obvious from their league position, but their recent form has been even better than this. Although they did get beaten by Bury in their last game, the six previous to it in which they were unbeaten, winning five, has seen them as most people’s favourites to go up. Having only lost one home game since the 10th November it is looking increasingly likely that we will be given a very difficult task for us tomorrow afternoon, but who knows? Just maybe we can cause what would be an upset.

Meetings previously between the two sides haven’t been of a great amount, but when we have met it is inevitably the home side that wins, with Walsall and Donny both winning almost 60% of their home games in this fixture. However, earlier in the season we did fall to a 3-0 defeat at the Banks’s stadium to Doncaster, and Dean Smith’s team will no doubt be looking for revenge.

This is a tough game to predict, and I expect it to be a close encounter. Doncaster have the quality, but lately we have shown so much heart and fight, and with the momentum behind us I reckon we may just snatch a point. I’m going Doncaster 2 – 2 Walsall. Good look to the boys and the fans who are also travelling up tomorrow with myself. Come On Walsall!
