Bristol City have made an approach for Walsall Football Club Assistant Manager Richard O'Kelly.
Newly appointed City manager Sean O'Driscoll is an admirer of O'Kelly having worked with him at both AFC Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers where they gained promotion to the npower Championship in 2008 after a play-off final victory over Leeds United, and is believed to have attempted to sign him during his tenure as manager of Nottingham Forest.
It is believed the clubs are now in discussions regarding compensation for O'Kelly, who made over 200 league appearances for The Saddlers.
If O'Kelly were to depart, it would be the second time the 56-year-old former striker has left the club, following his arrival in November 2011, Richard left to take up the managers job at Hereford United in March 2012, during their ultimately futile battle against relegation to the Blue Square Bet Premier League.
O'Kelly returned to The Saddlers in June of last year and is seen as a major catalyst for the clubs good form.
