Following Tuesday's much needed victory over relegation rivals Scunthorpe United, Lee Hale shares his Match Report;
The game began, both teams started brightly battling for dominance, but both defences coping competently.
As the first half went on The Saddlers got into the game more, and just after the half hour mark Flo Cuvelier latched onto a poor clearance, strode into the box and fired low into the corner.
The home side pushed back and almost forced their way straight back in through Parkin who fired wide, and then moments later fired a shot over.
HALF TIME: Scunthorpe United 0 Walsall 1
The second half began with Scunthorpe pressing and coming close through Parkin again, and Duffy missing a good opportunity, with Walsall's defence rocking.
Shortly after, due to a previously earned booking, Andy Butler was lucky not to be sent off, with the ref seemingly showing a little leniency.
Still Scunthorpe rained down on our goal, but Grof was equal to anything that got past our steadying defence.
A couple of half chances from The Saddlers followed and some dogged defending by our defence, and some great reactions from Grof saw The Saddlers take a much needed three points.
RESULT: Scunthorpe United 0 Walsall 1 (Cuvelier 34')
David Grof continues to give a great account of himself when given the opportunity, and Flo Cuvelier is the breath of fresh air that we needed without a doubt.
I doubt there are many unhappy Saddlers, after we learnt of Cuvelier extending his loan until the end of the season, and then him scoring the lonesome winning goal away at Scunthorpe in one day!
