PRE-MATCH NEWS & VIEWS

Walsall will return to league action on Saturday afternoon as they take on mid-table Milton Keynes Dons at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

After their all-competition undefeated streak was brought to an end by Peterborough United in midweek, the Saddlers will be looking to keep a record-breaking streak alive as they hope to make it nine wins in as many league games.

With last weekend's comfortable 5-1 win over Tranmere Rovers to build upon, the now Nathan Lowe-less Reds will have their work cut out against a Dons side that is looking to get their promotion push back on track.

Winning just one of their last six league games, the Buckingham based outfit had been on a six game winning streak before their recent spell of form, and, with a two-week gap between games, will be fighting fit as they visit WS1.

WALSALL TEAM NEWS

Priestley Farquharson (thigh), Donervon Daniels (calf), Jack Earing (ankle), George Hall (hamstring), and Ronan Maher (ankle) are all ruled out.

Recent arrival Nathan Asiimwe could make his debut after he missed the midweek defeat to Peterborough United due to being cup tied.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There have been twenty-eight competitive meetings between Walsall and MK Dons, and it's the Stadium MK side that holds a small head-to-head advantage having won eleven times compared to the Saddlers' seven, with the ten remaining games finishing all square.

The first meeting between the two was a League 1 clash that took place at the National Hockey Stadium on Saturday, 30th October 2004, and saw the spoils shared as Darren Wrack's thirteenth-minute opener was cancelled out by Malvin Kamara thirteen minutes later.

THE LAST TIME WE MET

The most recent meeting between the Saddlers and Dons was a League Two clash that took place at Stadium MK on Saturday, 7th September 2024 and saw the home side win by a goal-to-nil.

The first and only goal of the game went to the home side as Callum Hendry hit the back of the net with eighteen minutes on the clock. A fine, sweeping attacking move to open the scoring as Walsall once again afforded their opponents too much space.

MATCH OFFICIALS

The EFL has confirmed that Scott Oldham, who is based in Lancashire, will take charge of the match, with Johnathon Bickerdike and Oliver Bickle being named as assistant referees. Wayne Gray has been selected as Fourth Official.
